Goalkeepers
Started by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Goalkeepers brings together leaders from around the world to accelerate progress toward ending poverty and fighting inequality. For two years, I worked on the team to prepare their website and social channels for the annual event—coming up with concepts, creating content, and overseeing other writers to get it all done.
2019
PRE-EVENT SOCIAL CONTENT
We created videos, carousels, and static posts leading up to the 2019 event. We targeted two audiences—people who would be attending or who followed attendees on social, and then a wider audience interested in global issues—and tailored content for both.
REAL-TIME CONTENT DURING THE EVENT
Onsite for the event, we worked quickly to create social content based on what was happening onstage—quotes, short video clips, links to the livestream, and more. I listened to the event while furiously writing copy and working with designers to grab the right clips and images for each post.
2018
In six months, our team redesigned & launched the website, designed & mailed a gift box to 300+ attendees, created social posts for the event, and managed three livestream Q&A sessions at the event.
Before the Event
I collaborated with the creative team to build the new website, managing copy for multiple pages and overseeing two other writers. We even created a quiz for testing knowledge of global progress.
We also concepted and wrote social posts for the release of the 2018 Report, the weeks leading up to the event, and the day of the event.
During the Event
I wrote our livestream script, and worked directly with our onscreen talent, Maps Maponyane, to adjust questions and script language on the fly as needed. And at the end of the day, icing on the cake, Bill Gates plugged our website on The Daily Show.
